Little Red Door to Offer Oncology Massage Scholarship

INDIANAPOLIS — Little Red Door Cancer Agency has been offering free therapeutic oncology massage for cancer patients and survivors since 2016. Oncology massage therapy has been shown to dramatically improve the quality of life of those on the cancer continuum, but there are not enough certified oncology massage therapists to meet the demand. Currently, there are only ten certified oncology massage therapists in the state of Indiana. That’s why Little Red Door Cancer Agency, with support from the Hoover Family Foundation, is offering a first-of-its-kind oncology massage certification scholarship.

Little Red Door will be providing a full scholarship for one recipient to attend Beaumont Health’s School of Oncology and Hospital Massage in Royal Oak, Michigan to obtain certification in oncology massage therapy. The 100-hour course will provide massage therapists with hands-on experience and knowledge of how cancer and cancer treatments impact the body. The course runs June 5th-June 11th, 2023.

Upon completion of the course, the recipient of this scholarship will work with Little Red Door clients at the Indianapolis office, located at 1801 N. Meridian Street. The recipient of this scholarship will dedicate a minimum of four hours per week serving Little Red Door clients for at least one year upon completion of the program. Applicants must currently possess a license to practice massage therapy in the state of Indiana to be eligible. Applicants can apply at www.littlereddoor.org/scholarship.
