Camp Little Red Door is Returning to Bradford Woods
INDIANAPOLIS — Camp Little Red Door is the oldest camp for kids with cancer in Indiana and the second oldest in the United States. At Camp Little Red Door, campers get to experience all the normal camp experiences regardless of where they are in their cancer treatment journey, including in active treatment. Camp Little Red Door is hosted at Bradford Woods in Martinsville, Indiana, which is a fully accessible camp facility.
At Camp Little Red Door there is a full medical team of doctors and nurses so that kids can focus on having fun and enjoying camp. Kids are able to partake in many camp activities including canoeing, ziplining, fishing, art therapy, and the famous alpine climbing tower. Camp Little Red Door is open to any child with cancer, regardless of where they are in their treatment journey, ages 8-18. Each camper can bring a friend or sibling to accompany them for the week.
“It’s just been eye opening to see all these kids come together and just be normal,” stated Rosina R., one of Camp Little Red Door’s campers. Rosina’s younger sister was diagnosed with a brain tumor when she was just two years old. Rosina continues, “I don’t know what the definition of normal is – it’s probably not normal. It’s better than normal.”
Camp Little Red Door and all other youth services provided by Little Red Door are completely free. For more information about Camp Little Red Door and to register your camper, please visit www.littlereddoor.org/camp-lrd.
