wellness programming at Little Red Door

Little Red Door offers free therapeutic massage, yoga classes, crafts, and more for cancer patients, survivors, and their caregivers through our Door to Wellness program. These services are provided by massage therapists, yoga instructors, and staff members who are trained to work with cancer patients and can tailor services to meet your unique needs.  In addition to the benefits listed above, you will also enjoy being able to interact with other cancer survivors and caregivers who can relate to your cancer experience. Note: Our massage therapists and yoga instructors are trained in oncology care. These services are meant to complement medical treatment, NOT to replace medical care. Make sure your doctor clears you to participate in these activities.

Door to Wellness Programs

  • Oncology Massage

    Oncology massage is an approach to massage therapy based in both compassion and specialized massage treatments to help people manage their experience with cancer. Here at Little Red Door, we offer 30-minute massages.

  • Chair Yoga

    Walk-ins welcome! Join Little Red Door for 60 minutes of chair yoga. Designed to help boost your bone health and balance as well as lower stress hormones, this Yoga class utilizes the stability of a chair while allowing the body to actively move through various yoga poses with ease. No previous yoga experience is required. This class is inclusive for all ability levels.

  • Gentle Movement/Meditation

    Walk-ins welcome! Join Little Red Door for 60 minutes of gentle movement and meditation! Designed to help slowly open stress points in the body like shoulders, neck, wrist, ankles. Come feel the benefit of moving slowly through yoga poses and allowing the mind to quiet while being guided through meditation – which is about receiving a sense of calm, peace and balance both emotionally and for the overall well-being of ones health. This class is inclusive for all ability levels.

  • Restorative Yoga

    Walk-ins welcome! Join Little Red Door for 60 minutes of restorative yoga! Designed to help an individual receive rest and relaxation while taking different yoga shapes and laying in those shapes with the help of props supporting the body such as: bolsters, blankets, chairs and blocks. Restorative Yoga is a receptive practice in that one will not be moving the body but allowing the body to rest. This class is inclusive for all ability levels.

  • Sound Bath

    A sound bath is meditative sound therapy. Overtone-emitting instruments (like singing bowls, chimes, vocals) are used to create soothing music that aid in meditation and anxiety relief. The music isn’t a song, but a steady, calming vibration. You are bathed in sound. It provokes a deep, beautiful meditation.

  • Ask the Expert

    Join Little Red Door monthly at our downtown Indianapolis location to hear from local experts. Conversations can range from nutrition, to healthy and affordable cooking ideas at home, to benefits of oncology massage and yoga, to different oncology treatment techniques and medications.

  • Livestrong

    LIVESTRONG is a program for cancer patients and survivors. Program will include pre and post assessment. Participants will receive instructor-led cardio and strength training twice a week for 12 weeks. Equipment is provided!

  • Journaling Your Journey

    Have you thought about keeping a journal to record your thoughts, concerns, goals, accomplishments, and feelings? Little Red Door will provide you with a journal for you to do just that! Join us every other week as we discuss various topics and walk away with writing prompts. This a great opportunity to journal your journey and network with others with similar experiences.

  • Getting Fit with Abbie

    Challenge yourself to 60 minutes of stretching, strength and cardio. Move at your own pace, options to sit or stand every class. Every class is ended in meditation. Join Abbi from the YMCA here at Little Red Door!

  • Crafting Corner

    Come join us and express your artistic skills in our crafting corner!

  • Tuesday Tasting

    Come join us for Tuesday Tastings every month and grab a bite to eat. This program will feature samples of healthy dishes made by our very own Little Red Door staff. The best part, we give you a recipe card of what was prepared so you can make these healthy meals in your very own kitchen.

  • Strength After Breast Cancer

    Strength After Breast Cancer (Strength ABC) is designed to educate breast cancer survivors that slowly progressive weightlifting performed twice weekly can reduce the onset, or worsening, of breast cancer-related lymphedema. Strength After Breast Cancer is evaluated and instructed by Dr. Vanessa Flora, DPT, CLT-LANA, CWS.
