Community Garden

INDIANAPOLIS, IN.; May 20, 2010...You are invited to attend the planting of the Little Red Door’s Community Garden at 10am on Thursday, May 27th at Little Red Door Cancer Center. Little Red Door Cancer Agency along with community partners American Cancer Society, Indiana Cancer Consortium, and Indiana Dietetic Association are making it easier for \the community to eat healthier foods by planting a community garden at 18th and Meridian. After researching the benefits of various fruit and vegetables, the four groups met and developed a list of foods that are high in antioxidants and other beneficial nutrients. Nick Oskay, Landscape Architect from Mark M. Holeman, Inc. took the list developed by the four groups and developed a landscape design for the garden. The garden will have between 12 -20 various produce items including tomatoes. Tomatoes are loaded with vitamin C and are one of the richest sources of the flavenoid lycopene known to be one of the most powerful antioxidants in existence.

Lilly Oncology on Canvas

INDIANAPOLIS, IN.; May 19, 2010...The public is welcome to visit Little Red Door Cancer Agency at 1801 N Meridian Street from Wednesday, May 19th – Thursday, June 3rd 1:00pm – 4:30pm daily to view a selection of the Lilly Oncology on Canvas collection.>/p>

Lilly Oncology on Canvas is a biennial art competition and exhibition that invites those touched by cancer to express, through art and narrative, that which gives their cancer journey meaning. People diagnosed with any type of cancer, their families and friends, caregivers, and healthcare providers are all eligible. Categories of submission include oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, photography, and one-dimensional mixed media. Competition winners receive donations to cancer charities of their choice. The 2008 competition includes 580 submissions from the United States and Puerto Rico. Nearly 40 pieces are on display at Little Red Door Cancer Agency for the public to view.

65th Anniversary Celebration

INDIANAPOLIS, IN.; April 15, 2010…Little Red Door Cancer Agency will be celebrating its 65th anniversary by holding a kick-off reception on Friday, May 14th. The reception will feature Lilly's "Oncology on Canvas" art and be held at the Little Red Door Offices at 1801 N. Meridian St. Indianapolis.

Hat and Wig Drive

INDIANAPOLIS, IN.; February 3, 2010…The Center for Women's Health (part of Community Breast Care) is generously holding a drive for LRD to collect wigs, turbans, and hats for women who have lost their hair due to cancer treatment. Little Red Door Cancer Agency Experiences Record Growth in 2009

INDIANAPOLIS, IN.; January 28, 2010…Despite an uncertain economic outlook and reports of decreased charitable donations in 2009, Little Red Door Cancer Agency finished the year with record setting totals in year-end giving and fundraising efforts. The agency closed out the year with $1,358,495.00 in donations. This is a two-percent increase from the previous year. The numbers are reflective of the agency’s efforts to be fiscally responsible with donor dollars while increasing efforts to seek out new partnerships through private and corporate funding. (more)

Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust Awards Grant Funding for Little Red Door Cancer Agency’s Transportation Program

INDIANAPOLIS, IN.; December 28, 2009…Cancer patients depend on reliable transportation to and from doctor’s appointments while undergoing treatment. Little Red Door Cancer Agency’s Transportation Program provides this service to many of its clients; and thanks to the generous support of the Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust, with a grant totaling $26,229, the agency will be able to continue to offer this service to its clients.(more)

The Indiana Breast Cancer Awareness Trust, Inc. Awards Little Red Door Cancer Agency funding for Mammography Program

INDIANAPOLIS, IN.; December 18, 2009…The Mammography Assistance Program benefiting clients of Little Red Door Cancer Agency received a big boost this month thanks to funding from the Indiana Breast Cancer Awareness Trust, Inc. Grant monies totaling $9,945 will be used to pay for screening mammograms for low income and underserved women and men in Hendricks, Johnson, Morgan and Shelby counties.(more)

The Indianapolis Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® Awards Little Red Door Cancer Agency with Grant to Support Mammography Program

INDIANAPOLIS, IN., November 20, 2009…Little Red Door Cancer Agency is pleased to be among a select group of non-profit organizations in Indiana chosen to receive grant funding from the Indianapolis Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure®. The award of $408,300 will allow the agency the opportunity to continue the Mammography Assistance Program and navigational services to our clients. .(more)
