INDIANAPOLIS, IN.; May 20, 2010...You are invited to attend the planting of the Little Red
Door’s Community Garden at 10am on Thursday, May 27th at Little Red Door Cancer Center.
Little Red Door Cancer Agency along with community partners American Cancer Society,
Indiana Cancer Consortium, and Indiana Dietetic Association are making it easier for
\the community to eat healthier foods by planting a community garden at 18th and Meridian.
After researching the benefits of various fruit and vegetables, the four groups met and
developed a list of foods that are high in antioxidants and other beneficial nutrients.
Nick Oskay, Landscape Architect from Mark M. Holeman, Inc. took the list developed by
the four groups and developed a landscape design for the garden. The garden will have
between 12 -20 various produce items including tomatoes. Tomatoes are loaded with
vitamin C and are one of the richest sources of the flavenoid lycopene known to be one
of the most powerful antioxidants in existence.
