Announcing Our New Executive Director
INDIANAPOLIS, IN; August 11, 2009… Little Red Door Cancer Agency is
pleased to announce the hiring of Fred Duncan as the organization’s
new Executive Director. The announcement was made today by the board
of directors and board president Ryan Judy. Duncan will assume his
new position on September 8, 2009.
Established in 1945, Little Red Door Cancer Agency is the largest
independent cancer agency in Central Indiana providing services to
cancer patients and their families who are either uninsured, underinsured,
or simply lack the financial means to receive adequate care. Little Red
Door is committed to serving people with cancer in the greater Indianapolis
area by reducing the physical, emotional and financial burdens.
In its search for a new leader, the agency’s board sought a candidate
with the leadership and initiative to ensure these vital services continue
as effectively as possible.
“Fred brings a track record of success and an impressive set of
leadership qualities. He has a profound enthusiasm for Little Red Door’s
mission,” said board president Ryan Judy. “Fred is the right choice for a
number of reasons, but most importantly for the good of the agency’s clients.”
Duncan comes to Little Red Door from the Indianapolis Museum of Art (IMA)
where he served most recently as the Director of Development. During his
tenure at the IMA Duncan led a full time staff, created new, cost effective,
donor relations events to keep donors engaged, cultivated members of IMA’s
major donor groups to solicit gifts, and served as a member of the
organization’s senior staff.
Duncan previously served as Manager of Donor and Member Relations for
the museum before leaving to serve as Director of Development for the
Indiana Repertory Theatre. During his service to the theatre, Duncan
directed the multi-million dollar fundraising programs of Indiana’s
only fully professional not-for-profit theatre, created innovative
donor campaigns and secured new corporate sponsorships for the organization.
“Fred has a strategic vision which aligns with the Board’s objectives for
Little Red Door,” noted Judy. “Under his direction, we will continue to
maximize our resources and determine ways to extend our reach as far as
possible to those dealing with the devastating effects of cancer.”
Duncan is a graduate of Indiana University Center on Philanthropy with a
Master of Arts in Philanthropic Studies. He has also studied and received
degrees and certifications from IUPUI and Western Kentucky University.
Duncan also served as Board Chair for Cross Roads Performing Arts from 2006 – 2008.
